Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide NAVSEA Executive Leadership with advisement and assistance in writing and developing communication materials aligned with command initiatives and priorities.
Develop and execute strategic communication plans and materials that support NAVSEA's mission, goals, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives and messaging.
Craft compelling and persuasive content for a variety of formats, including speeches, opinion pieces, policy briefs, and executive summaries, tailored to influence key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to identify communication opportunities and challenges, providing expert advice on messaging and strategic positioning.
Conduct in-depth research and analysis to ensure content is grounded in factual accuracy, relevance, and strategic insight, incorporating the latest developments and trends affecting the Navy and defense sector.
Adapt and refine communication strategies based on evolving organizational priorities, stakeholder feedback, and the external environment, ensuring NAVSEA maintains a proactive and responsive communication stance.
Evaluate the effectiveness of strategic communication efforts, utilizing metrics and feedback to continuously improve reach, engagement, and impact among targeted audiences.
Serve as a key liaison between the Strategic Communications team and other departments, facilitating integrated communication efforts and promoting a cohesive organizational narrative.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English of Communication
10 years of experience in defense acquisition or other federal appropriation/authorization matters.
Experience providing direct support to senior leaders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
The ability to create communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with executive leadership, subject matter experts, and personnel key to informing and influencing command narratives
Thorough analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to think strategically, to identify needs and requirements, and to develop recommendations and solutions.
Ability to manage small- and large-scale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.
Ability to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense
