As a Technical Writer, you will:



  • Work with the technical implementation teams to understand the product document requirements.
  • Create and edit high-quality technical documentation for mobile applications, including software and system architecture, design, and product requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and submission of documentation required for compliance with our Quality Management System.
  • Assist in establishing and continuously improving the standardization and simplification of technical writing processes, procedures, and style guidelines.
  • Contribute to documentation development lifecycle improvements
  • Convert legacy/previous formatting to latest formatting/style guidelines.
  • Create documentation based on standardized templates.
  • Analyze and edit content to maintain continuity of style and content.
  • Assess the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended
  • Conduct document reviews and collect input from stakeholders
  • Create data flow diagrams, component diagrams, and similar technical illustrations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance (US citizenship required).


At least 2 (two) years of experience in:



  • Writing technical reports, analyzing technical literature, writing descriptive copy, and verifying documentation with appropriate sources.
  • Ability to use various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, ADOBE CC, HTML, and XML.
  • S1000D specification for the production of technical publications.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $95,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
