A week in the life of a Cybersecurity Engineer II:



  • Participate in software and systems engineering and software systems research to develop new capabilities, ensuring cybersecurity is fully integrated.
  • Conduct comprehensive technology research to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems.
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluates information system security throughout the systems development life cycle.
  • Test, implement, deploy, maintain, and administer the infrastructure hardware and software and conduct risk assessment and provide recommendations for application design and accreditation including ATO and eMASS.
  • Be responsible for the full range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access- Uses encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research.
  • Participate in the design and development of new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems
  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance (US citizeship required)
  • Security+ CE certified


At least 3+ (three) years of experience in:



  • Configuring, testing, maintaining, and upgrading information system(s) software and hardware to comply with Department of Defense (DoD) IA requirements and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Managing accounts, network rights, and access to DoD systems and equipment
  • Vulnerability management
  • Development of IA artifacts and documentation
  • Facilitation of IA implementation, review and analysis of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation
  • Support for Information System Security Officer (ISSO)duties.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $1100,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
