The Field Service Technician (II) will be expected to travel throughout the USA. This role will work within in the team to execute mechanical/electrical tasks in direct support of completing field service projects on equipment utilized in Power Transmission, Distribution, and Generation. This role will participate in the installation, maintenance and or repair of electrical equipment following defined procedures and industry standards. This role will market companies capabilities for future opportunities. This role will need to support mechanical and electrical in the following areas that requires supervision from Transformer Assembly, Electrical Testing, Controls, LTC's, Oil Processing.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Must be able to drive company vehicle and equipment.
- Receive assignments and instructions from lead and manager - both verbal and written.
- Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth Company procedures, and blueprints when performing assigned work.
- Select proper materials and parts for assembly operations.
- Setup and layout materials and tools for all assembly operations.
- Maintain the required clearances and dimensions for the voltage classifications specified.
- Support the following:
- Transformer Assembly
- Ability to read nameplate
- Basic understanding of transformer assembly/re-gasketing and maintenance.
- Sizing, cutting and installing new gaskets
- High Voltage, Low Voltage bushing preparation
- Assembly of conduits and cables
- Assist with installation of advanced Power Transformer monitoring systems, gauges and accessories.
- Controls
- Assist with installation of controls and control wiring
- Oil Processing
- Assist with oil and vacuum processing
- Basic understanding of oil processing techniques and equipment
- Ability to complete oil sample testing
- Electrical Testing
- Basic understanding of electrical transforming testing & theory

- Mechanically inclined and have basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Basic understanding of operating heavy machinery/equipment.
- Self-directed, positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions/directions.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Advanced post-high school level education in lieu of 1-3 years of industry specific work experience
- Utility experience
- Valid Driver's License

Key Working Relationships
- Works with other departments (Customers, Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha)
- Communicates with customers and managers who may have inquiries about aspects of the job which entails the exchange of accurate information and quick decisions in these situations.
Physical Demands
- Estimated hours for this position is 60 hours a week
- Ability to remain in a standing position 90% of the time.
- Ability to travel 95% of the time to different job sites throughout the region. Travel by vehicle and plane.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, climb, and work at heights
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- This is a non-controlled environment in terms of climate - subject to weather at jobsite location
