Valiant though the Joint Staff /J7 Forces Branch is committed to enhancing joint military capabilities through the use of the Joint Training Tool (JTT) and innovative training and simulation technologies. We are seeking a Joint Training Specialist with a strong joint background to contribute to the conceptualization, development, and execution of computer-assisted joint exercises and rehearsal. Job Description: The Joint Training Specialist will be interchangeable as a Models and Simulation Instructor Controller and a MSEL Planner. The Joint Training Specialist will play a vital role throughout the Joint Event Life Cycle from the Concept Development Conference though Exercise Execution by providing expertise in exercise control group operations, controlling the MSEL, providing Model support simulating operational techniques, tactics, and procedures of maneuver forces using various simulations. The Joint Training Specialist will focus on one position but must be willing and able to flex to provide support to the other. Duties: Must have knowledge in one of the two subgroups and be able to learn the other. Instructor Controller:
- Knowledge of at least one of the following models and simulations and able to learn the others.
- Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM)
- Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS)
- Joint Semi Automated Forces (JSAF)
- Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS)
- Joint Low Overhead Driver (JLOD)
- Low Overhead Training System (LOTS)
- Ability to master and then give platform instruction as a primary instructor for various simulations, maintaining proficiency in joint and service doctrine, and certification in specified models and simulations.
- Perform workstation controller tasks during exercise events, including instructing gamer augmentees, facilitating exercise response cell supervisor, and assisting the Scenario Manager and JECG Director
- Support simulation development efforts as needed, including testing new versions, serving as Senior Control, and Deputy Test Director
- Other Duties as required.
MSEL Planner
- Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) Planner in the Scenario/MSEL Exercise/Event Design Section. Prepares the MSEL for joint/combined Joint Staff J7 supported exercises/events.
- In coordination with supported military customers and the Joint Exercise Support Team performs duties as Scenario and/or MSEL Planner during exercise/event planning and execution.
- As the MSEL Planner develops the MSEL in the JTT; provides the MSEL overview briefing; Briefs MSEL scripted events/storylines; Coordinates the JMSEL database for assigned exercises; and supports MSEL synchronization requirements as required. Assist the lead planner in Scenario and/or MSEL management and development.
- Performs duties as MSEL Coordinator during exercise execution.
- Provides instruction in JMSEL operations to members of the Exercise Control Group. Attends exercise/event planning conferences and attends coordination meetings as required.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Preferred experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or DOD civilian equivalent, including 3 years' experience in planning and conducting military training for a service or joint/combined organization.
- Able to prepare and conduct seminars/work groups; conduct training in large and small groups; conduct post exercise analysis.
- Ability to work with Senior Government and Military personnel as well as Contractors from other companies.
- Capable of remote work with limited supervision
- Working knowledge of JTIMS JMSEL or the JTT.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Secret Security Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet TS/SCI clearance level eligibility requirements for access to classified information and continued employment.
- Must be able to travel unassisted to CONUS and OCONUS locations to perform duties in a variety of environments and may travel up to 40%.
