Job Description

The Chemistry department seeks an individual familiar with campus Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to address potential hazards for research maintenance.

The Chemistry department seeks an individual familiar with campus Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to address potential hazards for research maintenance.
Primary responsibilities of the incumbent, but not limited to these responsibilities, include:
* Acts as a liaison between building occupants and EHS
* Reports hazardous conditions to EHS
* Follows all EHS procedures
* Performs highly complex/skilled work in setting up, altering, and repairing technical equipment
* Repairs and maintains building accessories and equipment, such as tables, chairs, and electrical appliances, etc.
* Performs preventative maintenance on rotating equipment including pumps, air compressors, and fans
* Locates parts and prepares requests for purchase of parts and equipment
* Provides input as to recommended equipment purchases for consistency in maintenance and repair.
* Oversees space survey, inventory, distributes keys, and manages door access

Additional requirements include:
* Grasps, lifts, maneuvers, rotates, and uses small to large trade tools and equipment.
* Grasps, lifts, and carries heavy objects weighing between 50-80 pounds
* Grasps, turns, twists, pulls, pushes, lifts, and moves equipment, controls, parts, etc.
* Assesses maintenance, construction, and repair needs
* Assist with deliveries and Chemstores as needed
* Cleans, maintains, safely operates, and properly stores all tools and equipment
Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift

Monday-Friday

20 hours per week

Flexible Schedule

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Laboratory Safety knowledge

Ability to assess maintenance, construction and repair needs.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $16.72 to $24.95 per hour

Grade:GGS 7
