The Associate Director (Senior Designer) of Creative Services will report to the Creative Director and collaborate closely with the creative team to produce compelling visual solutions across various communication design platforms. This role is essential to supporting the organization's marketing efforts, including campaigns, presentations, proposals, and stewardship reports, with a primary focus on video and motion design.

The Associate Director (Senior Designer) will manage projects from concept through final production, ensuring that all materials align with the organization's brand vision and meet high-quality standards. They will provide art direction and execution of design across all stages of asset creation, ensuring a cohesive and engaging brand experience for all audiences. This role is especially focused on the creation of digital and video assets, such as promotional videos, social media content, motion graphics, and digital display ads. In addition, the Associate Director will manage a variety of multimedia projects, including web assets, print collateral, and internally produced advertising materials.

This role involves attending photo and video shoots for various campaigns at the hospital. While the Creative Director will often be involved in these sessions, there will be times when the Associate Director (Senior Designer) is expected to independently manage shoots, providing art direction and collaborating closely with photographers, videographers and stakeholders on-site at the Washington, DC hospital location.

Collaboration with organizational leadership and cross-functional teams will be essential to ensure a cohesive, integrated approach to video, digital, and social media efforts that align with the organization's broader strategic goals.

Bachelor's degree (Required)

6 years (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge

Creative and technical skills to effectively design content across multiple creative platforms. Ability to provide quality assurance of all deliverables and maintain consistent brand identity across all media. Minimum 6 years experience working on content development for print, video, web and other multimedia solutions. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, on time and within budget. Team-oriented and have a collaborative approach to creative development.

Must have functional to advanced knowledge in the following programs:



  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere/After Effects/Photoshop/Illustrator/Audition).
  • Front end web design
  • Motion graphics
  • HTML5
  • Microsoft office applications



Functional Accountabilities

Creative Concept Development and Execution

Create design concepts for all visual elements representing Children's National Hospital includes customization based on audience, message, and project goals.

Lead all aspects of creative development for assigned projects.

Edit and create multimedia elements (graphics/video/audio), manipulate creative artwork

Understand target audience requirements and translate to enhance development of creative approaches and solutions

Create components for web

Manage artwork and direct free lance designers and photographers for special projects

Present creative concepts to internal and external clients as needed

Recommend ways to expand existing collateral and photo/video products to increase engagement/brand awareness

Conduct team brainstorming sessions, concept development and design discussion with Marcomm colleagues
