Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC is seeking a Data Manager to work within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position will provide professional support to the various Divisions within NCIRD. This work will be performed at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. The Data Manager will report to Goldbelt Professional Services leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and/or participate in operational or planning meetings to promote program goals and gain support and cooperation; assists with developing strategies for program promotion, education, communication, and outreach; independently, or in collaboration with others.
  • Plan and coordinate program activities, including program implementation, service delivery, assessment, surveillance, quality assurance, partnerships and collaborations, outreach, orientation, training, evaluation and reporting to ensure surveillance and epidemiologic program and project success.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate public health programs and surveillance impact.
  • Collect and analyze data from existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other data sources to address complex program needs; prepare reports for use in evaluating program operations and other work incidental to the implementation, development and evaluation of the program.
  • Monitors and conducts assessments and compliance reviews for program compliance requirements; negotiate and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare reports of findings, evaluations, and recommendations in terms of strategies, services, and resources.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance evaluation and tracking systems; evaluate and analyze data collection, utilization methods, and quality control.
  • Perform data analyses as part of a public health program utilizing statistical techniques commonly used in epidemiologic evaluations to interpret and analyze data.
  • Ensure the statistical validity, epidemiologic applicability, and evaluation of program activities by participating in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Consult and collaborate with health-related agencies and other public health partners.
  • Provides scientific advice and technical assistance:
    • to health-related agencies and other public health partners for specific surveillance and epidemiologic programs or issues, applying appropriate scientific and technical methods and practices
    • to develop and implement procedures, methods and strategies for obtaining and using surveillance, epidemiologic and programmatic data to describe program processes and outcomes, morbidity and/or mortality, or the results of a surveillance program or project
    • to implement, manage, and evaluate surveillance and epidemiologic programs
    • to the ELC FOA-funded jurisdictions to ensure successful implementation and evaluation of funded projects
    • Participate in the syntheses of surveillance and epidemiologic data for application toward designing effective prevention programs and practice guidelines while ensuring that valid research findings are disseminated and applied to surveillance and other public health programs.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong aptitude for processing, working with, and evaluating data from multiple sources.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Must be able to follow protocol and process based on variables searches.
  • Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms effectively internally and externally.
  • Must be capable of working with general guidance and with little to no supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to decipher and organize large databases.
  • Highly proficient in using various statistical software (Excel, RedCap, R, SAS, etc.)
  • Experience with Data visualization utilizing Power BI and Tableau.
  • Able to summarize analysis results, draw conclusions, and identifies potential recommendations.
  • Able to collaborate with internal CDC partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in data management working with large data sets.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
  • Highly detailed and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
  • Experience working with Influenza and respiratory viruses.
  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Sciences Research or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree.
