Monitor Technician - PRN Night Shift/ 24 hrs./month

Under the general supervision of the Product Owner - Clinical Informatics and Cloud Services, uses cardiac rhythm patient monitoring software and related electronic health record, monitors patient cardiac rhythms and/or oxygen saturation and escalates issues identified to direct care providers in a timely way, as appropriate. Ensures that there is a direct care provider connection in communication for cardiac rhythms of concern and engagement in requested action. Provides Central Monitoring to other care categories, as required.

Night shift hours are between 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.

This is a back-up support position, so hours worked will vary depending on team needs. You will average 24 hours per month.

** Shift differential offered for evenings, nights and weekends**

• Monitors patient cardiac rhythms. Responds in a timely way to alarms and communicates/reports dysrhythmias promptly to nursing staff.
  
• Documents patient rhythm strips, and all event associated communications with the highest quality.
  
• Maintains the telemetry log for each shift.
  
• Exercises professional levels of verbal and written communications.
  
• Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer applications designed for functions such as patient management, acuity, composer, etc.
  
• Serves as a knowledgeable resource for assigned software applications.
  
• Keeps current with system/application upgrades. Offers/provides assistance to others in navigating IS applications.
  
• Consults with appropriate clinical/non-clinical personnel to resolve issues.
  
• Communicates using the assigned application(s) or CMU forms in accordance with Spacelabs policy/procedure and the CMU standard work, with reliability and high quality.
  
• Reports actual and potential problems concerning patients, families, staff and appropriate departments to the care team members and the charge nurse/nurse manager.
  
• Communicates delay/difficulties in providing services or alteration of routine to the CMU Leadership.
  
• Meets volume, timeliness, and quality performance goals reliably.
  
  

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.; applicable experience may substitute for education.
• Previous training in rhythm analysis and recognition training REQUIRED
  
• 3+ month's experience in cardiac telemetry monitoring or EKG REQUIRED
  
• Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) PREFERRED
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  
• Advanced computer skills and ability to use various software applications in a Windows environment
