A job position is open for a choir director at the Ragon Institute of MGH, Harvard and MIT. This ensemble is mainly composed by Ragon Institute members, but it is also open to the Kendall Square community.

Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Ragon Chorale Administrator and leading members of the Choral ensemble, the applicant independently carries out the following activities:

* Select a music repertoire appropriate for the purpose and ability of the ensemble.




    • When required, adapt and rearrange the music so it fits the skill level of the ensemble.



* Lead weekly 90-minute rehearsals, including warm-ups, conducting, and accompanying on piano.

* Integrate vocal pedagogy, music literacy, and music theory into the rehearsal of new repertoire.

* Record individual parts for the ensemble to study outside of rehearsal and create and maintain a virtual drive to store these files.

Communication:

* Coordinate rehearsals with the ensemble through virtual communications channels.

* Work closely with the group and be open to adapt to their necessities.

* Lead performances for the Ragon Institute community two or three times a year, depending on the experience of the ensemble.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Degree or proven experience in music or related fields. BA/BS in music preferred.

* 0-2 years of experience

* Experience in leading chorale groups.

* Experience in music arranging.
