PSI Quantum
$26.44-$33.65 USD
United States, California, Palo Alto

We believe quantum computing will change everything. It will have the power to transform the foundations of giant industries that rely on intensive computation. PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the world's first useful quantum computer, capable of delivering these transformative results. We know that means it will need 1 million qubits, error correction, a scalable architecture and a data center footprint.

By harnessing the laws of quantum physics, quantum computers can provide exponential performance increases over today's most powerful supercomputers, offering the potential for extraordinary advances across a broad range of industries including climate, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design, and many more.

PsiQuantum is uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of quantum computing years earlier than our competitors. Our architecture is based on photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components using existing high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are today producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. Since photons don't feel heat, we can take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems, the kind that have been operating at facilities like the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC). And because photons are in fact light, they can move between subsystems at tremendous speed using standard fiber connectivity.

Our team is building a utility scale quantum computer and the software tools needed to build fault tolerant quantum applications. We're a highly motivated and collaborative group focused on a singular goal - building the world's first useful quantum computer on the fastest path possible.

There's much more work to be done and we are looking for exceptional talent to join us on this extraordinary journey!

Job Summary:

This position is an hourly position to support multiple manufacturing activities related to build and assembly of components and utilize machines in the process. Support build products by assembling parts and components according to engineering specifications. Would require work on a manufacturing line, receiving batches of smaller parts to integrate into a complete product. Perform some repair, alignment or calibration.

Will train to operate cryogenic test systems and room temperature. Support lab, cleanroom operations and maintenance activities additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform material inventory as required.
  • Two key job responsibilities of maintaining cryostat and other testers in addition to perform test runs using the same set of equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment includes tool install, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and hardware upgrade.
  • Perform test run includes perform wafer, Die or chips electrical, photonics, reliability, or other tests.
  • Test sequence requires Cryostats warmup, sample swap, verify setup by performing small set of checks before start cooling the system. Once the system reaches cryo temperature alignment of probs and FAU would be requiring, run a few tests to verify tool is ready than final start test run and confirm cryostat is sending good data.
  • Update MES (manufacturing execution system) by generation transactions for all work completed.
  • Create and submit a daily pass-down of all activities and results during shift.
  • Communicate with others when help needed during the shift with manager, other operation team and/or T&M (test and measurement).
  • Ensure that testers are running, producing good data and verify data availability on Maskhub.
  • Perform standard and/or calibration test and update SPC charts (statistical process control). Utilize the data to determine if it is ok to start test and stop and take action to repair or realign.
  • Maintain and update hardware spare parts.
  • Communicate hardware shortage, prepare RMA shipments, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver against a schedule.
  • Demonstrated interest in PsiQ's mission and vision for quantum computing, with an ability to contribute in a start-up environment consistent with PsiQ's values of communication, collaboration, respect, results and challenge.
  • Utilize hand tools and small parts such as screws, welds and press fits to assemble equipment and connect circuits between individual pieces.
  • Able to build products including computers parts, electronics devices, sensing equipment.
  • Read and follow manufacturing sub assembly instructions

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience in operating tooling.
  • Requires minimum supervision.
  • Able to inspect own work and perform quality assurance and inspect their own work and the work of their team.
  • Able to follow instruction and provide recommendations and improvements.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
  • Experience with vacuum or cryogenic systems.
  • At least 2 years of related experience in a semiconductor, optical, or R&D test position.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and take initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, understand schematics, manuals, and follow detailed test plans.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical components, assemblies, optical, and electrical systems using basic trouble shooting tools.
  • High dexterity working with small components using precision tools and instruments.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software and Windows/Windows applications.
  • Physical agility and manual dexterity, specific knowledge of safe material handling (able to lift 50lbs).
  • Able to work from ladders, under tables, in cramped conditions, to stoop, kneel, and otherwise move to install components.
  • Willingness to "wear multiple hats", perform a wide range of different tasks, utilize various tools to support engineering R&D and operational efforts.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Able to communicate through mechanical drawings and sketches.
  • Strong basic math abilities.
  • Technical BS degree or 4 years equivalent experience.
