Mechanical Maintenance

Job Summary

Supervises/leads the installation, maintenance, calibrating, and testing of control systems and related equipment to ensure the maximum energy efficiency of heating and cooling systems. Monitors, operates, and programs the building automation system. Works with the HVAC department to ensure equipment is operated efficiently to create a comfortable environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Manage distribution of work projects, estimation of costs, ordering of materials and supplies, and enforcing safety policies
  • Monitor building automation (Metasys) and notify building mechanics of problems observed.
  • Installs and calibrates all types of HVAC and electrical controls (electronic and digital); equipment including pneumatic controls, and low voltage controls such as thermostats, sequences, valves, actuator switches, contractors, sensors, relays and JCI installed equipment (controllers, sensors, transducers)
  • Troubleshoots and repairs control systems on air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers and chillers and using manufacturer's information
  • Maintain employee information on attendance, job performance, training and development, and procedures and methods to improve the quality of work performed


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience
  • Experience in low voltage electricity
  • Supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical training

Preferred Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years Metasys building automation experience


Proposed Salary

$24.12 - $27.60 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
  • Ability to operate hand, precision, and power tools standard to the trade, and operate heavy equipment
  • Ability to assemble and use lifts
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, specifications, and standards, and technical literature

KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Knowledgeable about and experience in both low- and high-voltage electricity

SKILLS
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Effective problem-solving, and analytical skills
