PRIMARY DUTIES: Assist Senior Mechanic Diagnose maintenance and repair problems on major components and systems such as:
Perform repair and preventative maintenance work under the direction or supervision of Senior Mechanic on both tractor and trailer:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
WORKING CONDITIONS: * Works under regular shop and outdoor conditions * Mechanic attire required including PPE. * May be required to work from other terminal locations EQUIPMENT USE: * Skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of trucks and heavy equipment WORK HOURS * Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. * May be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Frequent reaching, use of eye-hand-foot coordination, depth perception, and wide field of vision for operating miscellaneous shop tools and equipment * Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, balancing, walking and carrying up to 60 pounds. MENTAL DEMANDS: * Demonstrates good independent judgement and organization of work assignments COMMUNICATION DEMANDS: * Interacts positively with all levels of employees, contractors, and vendors. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Preferred Experience: * 1-4 years of Heavy equipment and trailer maintenance and repair * A general knowledge of the systems and components listed above * Experience in dealing with parts and service vendors * Experience maintaining vehicle maintenance records * Experience with PM scheduling Education/Training: * HS diploma or equivalency (required) * Trade or Technical training (preferred) * Must be able to acquire TWIC and government credentials.
