JOB MISSION:

New Balance Apparel is positioned as a key growth engine for the company. We are looking for an experienced Senior Merchant, Running Apparel Product Creation to join our team at New Balance. This role will help to shape the future of New Balance Running Apparel by leveraging consumer and marketplace insights to identify 'what's next' and is crucial to deliver the right products, to the right place at the right time to drive commercial growth. This individual will be a strategic, highly collaborative and creative thinker, with an eye for product.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the product creation process, integrating product innovation and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Remain current on industry trends, analyze market data and identify opportunities for new product development.

  • Obsess over the consumer: apply hindsight, insight, foresight and marketplace knowledge to create compelling product strategies and identifying opportunities.

  • Develop and implement product strategies to ensure product success.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.

  • Manage product life cycles and update product portfolios as needed.

  • Develop and track performance metrics to evaluate product effectiveness.

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to product creation.

  • Guide an Associate Merchant through their career growth and development.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 7 years of experience in product creation

  • A proven track record of successful product launches

  • The ability to build and implement product strategy

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong product and financial acumen, and a creative eye for product design and development.

  • Excellent communication skills, collaboration and influence skills

  • Dynamic team player, comfortable working cross-functionally and in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent product and industry knowledge. Active interest in running is a plus.

  • Ethical practices required. Integrity is a core value of the brand and team.

  • This position is based in Boston and in the office 3 days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

  • Occasional domestic & international travel required

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
