Position Description

Goodfellow Bros. (GBI) is a large heavy-civil contractor with operations throughout the West Coast & Hawaii. GBI has always maintained that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are now seeking to add to our team. We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Wenatchee, Washington.

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist works in a team environment to process weekly payroll for our companies. This includes accurate calculation of wages and timely disbursement of payments to employees. This position collaborates with other departments and regions to gather data and address payroll-related inquiries. Effective communication and excellent customer service are required keys for this position.

Essential Functions

  • Compile and verify the accuracy of timecard data (including PTO, hours worked, and adjustments) and process weekly payroll and issue employee paychecks
  • Record employee information and update statuses, such as transfers and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
  • Correspond via email and telephone with employees and other customers regarding payroll items.
  • Meet daily and weekly time-sensitive deadlines
  • Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
  • Process stop-payments and check replacement
  • Process employee garnishments; including set-up in Vista and responding to agencies.
  • Respond to Verification of Employment forms for banks/mortgage companies, and Unemployment Audits
  • Scan and attach employee documents into employee records in Vista
  • Reporting for BLS reports, FHWA 1391, MWR Reports
  • Perform special tasks and take on other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree
  • Two Year Accounting Degree preferred, but not required
  • Prior experience in payroll processing preferred
  • Union payroll experience preferred
  • Multi-state payroll experience preferred
  • Must be able to show average proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word), plus other software as required.
