The Position

The Workforce and Professional Education Department at Ocean County College is a leading provider of computer software training. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Digital Office Skills Instructor to teach courses on the Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suites. and contribute to the success of our students.

The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that helps students develop proficiency in using these essential productivity tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Google and Microsoft applications, with a passion for teaching and empowering students with practical technology skills. Digital Office Skills Instructors will utilize sound educational practices towards the academic development of each program, manage their classroom, promote a positive and engaging learning experience, provide support, tutoring and other assistance as needed. This position also assigns and grades assignments, inputs attendance records, and ensures an effective and safe learning environment through classroom management.

Classification: Workforce & Professional Education Instructor

Instructional Duration: Semester Based

Rate: $575/CEU (Continuing Education Units)
*Pay per class is dependent on the number of assigned Continuing Education Units (1 CEU is equivalent to 10 hours of work)


What You Will Do

  1. Develop and deliver engaging courses on the use of Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Gmail, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  2. Teach students how to effectively use these tools for both personal and professional tasks, emphasizing practical applications and real-world scenarios.
  3. Use a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on exercises, demonstrations, and projects, to enhance students' learning experiences.
  4. Ensure that course content covers basic to advanced features of both Google and Microsoft suites, tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
  5. Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to facilitate their growth.
  6. Answer all student questions as they arise to ensure student understanding and completion of assignments.
  7. Ensure students are aware of safety policies and monitor for correct procedures.
  8. Maintain professionalism within the classroom and coach students on their professionalism.
  9. Related duties, initiatives and projects as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Education, or a related field is required.
  2. Proficiency in using both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suites, with a deep understanding of their features and applications.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Great interpersonal skills.

Even Better If You Have

  1. Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Education, or a related field.
  2. One or more years instructional experience in an educational or work-related setting.
