The Position

The Workforce and Professional Education Department at Ocean County College is a leading training provider dedicated to preparing individuals for successful careers in the field of computer science. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Comp TIA Course Facilitator to mentor students in the areas of IT fundamentals, A+, Network+, and Security+ and join our team to contribute to the success of our students.

Course Facilitators are responsible for overseeing and supporting students working through self-paced content in our Comp TIA Coursera program. The successful candidate will provide guidance, mentorship, and assistance to students as they navigate the course materials, ensuring they stay on track and achieve their learning goals.

Course Facilitators will utilize sound educational practices towards the academic development of each program student and promote a positive and engaging learning experience, provide support, tutoring and other assistance as needed. This position also oversees student development and graded assignments, submitting progress reports regularly to the WPE office.

Classification: Workforce & Professional Education Course Facilitator

Hourly Rate: $34/hour. Work schedule is approximately 2 hours per week. Additional hours must be authorized in advance by supervisor.


What You Will Do

  1. Monitor student progress and engagement through the learning management system (LMS).
  2. Proactively reach out to students who may be falling behind or struggling with the course content.
  3. Provide regular feedback on assignments and projects, ensuring timely and constructive responses.
  4. Facilitate virtual office hours, discussion forums, and study groups to foster a collaborative learning environment.
  5. Encourage and motivate students to stay engaged and committed to their learning journey.
  6. Provide detailed, actionable feedback to help students improve their skills and understanding.
  7. Track and report on student performance and progression to the program director.
  8. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and communications.
  9. Answer all student questions as they arise to ensure student understanding and completion of assignments.
  10. Related duties, initiatives and projects as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in IT support, networking, cybersecurity, or a related field.
3. Must possess active CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+ certifications.
4. Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience.
5. Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point etc.)
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Great interpersonal skills.


Even Better If You Have

1. Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
