At CHOP, your experience is valued; your voice is heard; and your contributions make a difference for patients and families. Join us as we build on our promise to advance pediatric care-and your career.

CHOP's Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

CHOP is committed to building an inclusive culture where employees feel a sense of belonging, connection, and community within their workplace. We are a team dedicated to fostering an environment that allows for all to be their authentic selves. We are focused on attracting, cultivating, and retaining diverse talent who can help us deliver on our mission to be a world leader in the advancement of healthcare for children.

We strongly encourage all candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences to apply.

A Brief Overview

The Sengupta lab studies the effect of circadian rhythms in protecting against lung injury from viral infections. Over the past few years, we have defined models and main cellular clocks to investigate in enhancing our understanding of circadian regulation of lung inflammation. We have been/will use various tissue specific and conditional circadian knock-out models as well as classic circadian disruption models. Currently we have exciting data for both adaptive and innate immune cell clocks.

We are looking for enthusiastic researchers with experience and training in immunology and basic molecular biology to join our team. Experience in circadian biology will be an advantage but is not a necessity.

We prefer applying candidates to possess a master's or PHD in immunology - however, experience in immunology with training in allied field is also acceptable. Candidates with a PHD degree are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

Please send your application to SenguptaS@email.chop.edu. In your email, include the following:

* CV with a list of publications

* A short summary of your present and future research interests

* A list of up to three references

What you will do

  • Plans and can run specific experiments related to immunology, including multiparameter flowcytometry and in vitro immune functional assays. While the applicant does not have to know the exact assays we plan to use, previous experience and independence with flow cytometry and functional assays in other contexts will be very important.
  • Assists in the development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas around immune cell functional assays.
  • Modifies IBC and IACUC protocols under the direction of the PI.
  • Formulates and performs complex lab experiments, analyzes data, and reports outcomes-works independently after initial discussions with the PI and other lab members.
  • Presents & discusses work at regular lab meetings. Participate in journal clubs.
  • Prepares laboratory reagents and monitors and maintains inventory and animal colony (shared by other lab members)
  • Performs calculations and maintains appropriate logs and lab notebooks.
  • Assists in writing methods and setting up protocols accurately under the direction of the PI
  • Assists with maintaining laboratory equipment and lab meeting scheduling and developing safety procedures and compliance records. (joint responsibility with other lab members)
  • Self-motivated research journals, white papers, and other scientific publications for pertinent information.
  • Assists with preparing materials for presentations, papers, grant applications, and conferences.
  • Will oversee and help train junior staff and undergraduate student researchers. (joint responsibility with other lab members)
  • .

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Masters degree or PHD in Immunology or allied fields are preferred.

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of directly relevant post grad scientific lab experience Required
  • At least five (5) years of directly relevant post grad scientific lab experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Multiparameter flow cytometry (including data analyses on FlowJo), functional assays for innate and adaptive lymphocytes.
  • Solid understanding of basic statistical methods and Prism software.
  • Proficient in basic molecular biology and other skills- cell culture work, western blotting, qPCR, and ELISAs. We can train in some of these processes if needed. Experience with flowcytometry and immune functional assay is highest priority.
