Job Summary In this role, close collaboration with scientists of multiple disciplines - chemists, biochemists, micro- and molecular biologists, and fermentation engineers is expected. The successful candidate should be adaptive, self-motivated, with a passion for science, and thriving in a team environment. The Sr. Lead Scientist will be a subject matter expert and have primary responsibility for LC-MS metabolomics and lipidomics workstreams, and also provide support for quantification with high resolution LC-MS for various projects. The position will be located at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Please note that this position is laboratory based. Responsibilities: Expertise with qualitative and quantitative small molecule LC-MS workflows with a strong emphasis on metabolomics and lipidomics, both targeted and untargeted. Develop sample prep, purification, and analysis workflows for the identification and structure elucidation of small biological molecules. Support construction of an in-house compound library for metabolomics projects in collaboration with researchers from other IFF sites. Collaborate with multidisciplinary analytical and project teams with the goal of providing analytical solutions to complex problems. Summarize and communicate results in discussions with colleagues, presentations to project teams and in formal reports. Mentor junior colleagues and collaborate with peers in a team-based environment focused on skill development and professional growth. Maintain a safe laboratory with a strong personal commitment to safety. Participate in audits and prepare documentation where necessary. Qualifications: PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Biochemistry field with 10+ years, hands-on demonstrated expertise in LC-MS metabolomics and lipidomics is required. Expertise in Thermo UHPLC and MS equipment including Chromeleon/Xcalibur/Compound Discoverer software is required. Knowledge of Sciex OS software is a plus. Demonstrated ability in bioanalytical LC methods development with a variety of detectors (UV, RI, ELSD, and CAD). Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and changing priorities, and effectively collaborate with a larger R&D project team. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to promote a collaborative environment. Ability to safely climb ladders, and ability to lift 24 pounds.
