The Opportunity

The Design Technology Manager will be responsible for upholding high standards and maintaining a high performing team that supports the business. The position will lead a team supporting Power and Renewables 2D client-based drafting, BIM/3D modeling, project delivery, design software, and design automation efforts. The position will develop and maintain strong relationships and alignment will all levels of leadership providing regular updates, status reports, and presentations. The position will also lead standardization, strategy, and ensure process adherence for both 2D drafting and BIM/3D modeling and automation. This individual will manage and oversee the workflows and design methods and technologies, and is responsible for user adoption, training, and digital design standards implementation.

What You'll Do



  • Mentor, coach, and lead a team of design technology professionals that will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of software versions, updates, templates, tools, and scripts to ensure high standards across the enterprise.
  • Manage, coach, and lead a team to guide the implementation, training, and use of supporting design delivery software within Power and Renewables to increase effectiveness in the project delivery process
  • Develop and manage partnerships and alignment with Lifeline Sector leadership.
  • Manage organizational change and adoption around 2D client-based drafting, BIM/3D modeling, project delivery, design software, and design automation efforts.
  • Stay informed and coach on best practices for use of software impacting digital design, evaluate new modeling and project delivery related software and technologies to enhance productivity and project performance.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead continuous improvement exercises for client-based workflows; build generative design and modeling automation capability.
  • Work with various committees and teams to strategize and develop project delivery software best practices, standards, and adoption across all offices. This includes coordination with the Project Management Center of Excellence.
  • Coordinates with the QA/QC team to assist in evaluation of and increasing adherence to company standards.
  • Create written technology evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption that align with enterprise-wide goals.
  • Establish a workflow process that promotes user involvement in forming feedback channels to continue to improve and enhance existing project delivery software and standards.
  • Manage user groups in design delivery software.
  • Assist project teams in design technology aspects of project setup and execution planning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all BIM/CADD Lead positions throughout all Lifeline sectors ensuring alignment with Design Technology and the business unit they support.
  • Prepare and plan with leadership during annual operating budget planning for all new positions within Design Technology and BIM/CADD Lead positions. This could include conducting market research for job title and job description, working with Human Resources to create the position, conducting interviews and managing the onboarding process.
  • Works closely with the Design Technology leadership to develop and maintain a positive team culture.
  • Works closely with the Design Technology & Technology & Innovation leadership to ensure team and department strategic goals are in alignment with ongoing workload and priorities of the professionals they may lead.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining adherence to yearly Design Technology budget.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with Strategic Growth and Marketing to ensure new service offerings are commercialized.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and regular coordination with software vendors. This includes but may not be limited to Bentley, Autodesk, and our Autodesk reseller.
  • Assist in creating corporate communication.



What We Expect from You



  • Degree in Engineering, Design, Business Management or other related field; consideration will be given to relevant experience
  • Requires 8+ years of experience in design-related fields, prior management experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects while meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including ability to manage multiple teams, with extensive project planning and execution skills.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

      Additional Opportunity Details:
      Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $125,400- $169,600
      * Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
