Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Student Counselor (Student Success Specialist) for the Prof Sci Masters Program.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Supports the strategic initiatives to enhance student engagement, retention, involvement, and satisfaction in various aspects of the Professional Science Master's program.
  • Helps students overcome challenges and achieve their goals through advising, coaching, workshops, and collaborative programming.
  • Enhances the overall graduate student experience at the university by providing compassionate support and effective guidance.
  • Assists in outreach to students to ensure high retention rates among students.
  • Develops effective relationship with PSM students, faculty, and community offices to enhance and promote services for students.
  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of requests.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience advising students in a higher education setting.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of diverse graduate student populations' needs and challenges.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong skill set with technology.
  • Experience with social media applications (Facebook, Instagram etc.).
  • Basic understanding of computer operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of experience advising students or working in student development in higher education setting.
Equipment Utilized

  • MS Office Suite and facility with standard web applications.
