Director - Indirect Purchasing

Must reside in Indianapolis or Twin Cities to be considered.

This position will report to the Vice President - Supply Chain. You will lead efforts of Indirect Purchasing Category Management across Smart Care businesses, including both Smart Care Equipment Solutions and Smart Care Climate Solutions. This is an enterprise-wide role supporting the need to leverage the entire organizations spend across varied categories such as Travel, Office Supplies, MRO Supplies, Safety Supplies, Facilities, and Consulting. This position will serve as a key stakeholder to various additional categories of spend including 3rd Party Warehouse/Logistics providers, Consultancy, IT Solution Providers, and personnel Temp Agencies.

The Director is responsible for engaging with internal stakeholders
across various businesses and service organizations to assess current spend, standardize the product need, and leverage our spend while
optimizing stakeholder satisfaction. Requirements of the position include ethics, integrity, and accountability while utilizing purchasing processes
to ensure a supplier safe business environment that encourages and demands competitive bid solicitation and guaranteeing confidentiality of
process. This position is about 49% sourcing, negotiating, and contract management and 51% change management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides broad leadership in sourcing processes that capitalize on opportunities for the business.
  • Offers innovative approaches to sourcing that encourage a high level of supplier collaboration and delivery.
  • Sets overall purchasing strategy that provides foundation for supplier negotiations.
  • Intervenes when required to solve highly complex matters of supplier performance.
  • Mitigates risk and promotes compliance by establishing and maintaining valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicates regularly with purchasing and business leadership at all levels.
  • Must lead, manage, encourage, participate, and demand in change management processes to introduce new products, sources, and / or
  • processes to be utilized within the businesses.
  • Current position is a healthy mix of transactional and strategic work activities, but requires engagement beyond email and computer.
  • *dvises and consults with internal business partners on sourcing processes and procedures.
  • Escalates sourcing and procurement issues to leadership; provides thought leadership for addressing issues.
  • Actively promotes and uses fundamental operating principles such as the problem-solving and code of conduct.
  • Develops, leads, and motivates management staff; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.
  • Management over the Fleet Operations Team managing upwards of 1,400 Technician and Work Support vehicles.

Experience

Greater than fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, required.

Certification

Supply Chain Certifications - the successful applicant should possess, be working towards, and/or possess the skills and capabilities equivalent to obtaining nationally recognized certification from the Institute for Supply Management (www.ismworld.com).

Change Management - the successful applicant must be willing to invest time and commitment towards being a champion of change management across the Supply Chain and supporting organizations within Smart Care.

Travel Requirement

  • Travel will be almost exclusively North America based.
  • Anticipated travel is dependent upon service organization.
  • Average 10% (2 days per month) with potential to grow to 25% (1 week per month), on exception.
  • Travel needs will always be dependent upon need and aligned to both business and family needs.

Office Location Offering(s)

  • Requested work location is on-site at a Smart Care Solutions location (Indianapolis, Indiana or St. Paul, Minneapolis preferred).
  • Domestic relocation will be considered.
