PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Fiber Technician is responsible for safely operating and maintaining the Dyneema fiber production facility to produce Dyneema fiber, of the highest possible quality, in the most cost-effective manner. JOB CONTEXT: This position requires interaction with other technicians, control room operator, shift coordinator, and supervision within the fiber production organization. Authorities n Authorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities Projects or Special Assignments
This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the Avient Protective Materials (Greenville, NC) work site. The Fiber Technician II has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes. Training is required within six months of assuming duty, and once a year thereafter. Responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes and may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste. COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB: Manual dexterity with manual operations has significant influence on quality and output of the secondary fiber processes. KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: High school diploma and at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a fibers production environment and/or equivalent military technical experience or training.
