Requisition ID req30856 Working Title Sr Program Manager Position Grade 14 Position Summary National Science Foundation project titled Collaborative Research: RII FEC: Harnessing Controlled Environment Agriculture to Secure Sustainability and Economic Growth, is hiring a Sr. Program Manager to support the duration of the award. This position works with faculty to oversee the implementation of a large NSF-funded award with a network of partners at the University of New Mexico (4 investigators), University of South Dakota (1 investigator), University of Wyoming (3 investigators) and Regents of New Mexico State University (1 investigator). The objectives of the award are to (1) characterize how the environment, plants, and microbes interact in hydroponic systems and affect crop yield and nutritional quality; (2) identify environmental, nutritional, and socio-economic drivers and impacts of CEA on tribal communities to enhance climate resilience strategies via CEA; and (3) empower tribal communities through interdisciplinary training aimed at long-term retention of a highly-skilled climate-smart CEA workforce. The major function of the position is to provide comprehensive administrative and financial management support to faculty and students associated with the award. It will include fiscal, contractual, and operational responsibilities for the efficient operation of the grant management process. The position will be responsible for working closely with the PIs, faculty, staff, students, contractors, and consultants and organizing events, workshops, and other required deliverables in accordance with the award. Job duties include: Design and implement systems based on the evaluation metrics in the project description to assess, collect, maintain, and analyze data; assist with preparing annual reports due every June and a final report at the end of the award; work with the external evaluator and other information and documents related to the NSF award and activities. Establish and implement quarterly and annual milestones for the award, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness and effect changes required for improvement throughout the award. Direct, manage, and oversee the daily administrative components like working with the management team (PIs and Co-PIs of the award) and activities. This includes assisting the PIs with the IRB applications for conducting surveys in communities. Design and establish an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the program/project function. This includes the development and maintenance of the project website. Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain record keeping for the operating unit. Annually the PI and program manager will create a list on a project management software (e.g., Asana) with monthly goals and deliverables for each institution and track the progress. Working with the management team to organize educational outreach in the communities targeted in the award proposal. See the Position Description for additional information. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; two of which are management level experience. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
