Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Trainer (Training & Consultation Specialist).

Under the direction of the Director of Compliance and Training develops curriculum and delivers training to meet the mandatory requirements and supplemental training needs of New Jersey Department of Corrections ( NJDOC) and UCHC staff in the areas of infection control, first aid, AHA, BLS, treatment of patients with HIV, treatment of patients with Hepatitis, and other chronic diseases. Delivers mental health and administrative related trainings to support the operations and mission of the UCHC's delivering health care within NJDOC.

  • Provide training, consultation, technical assistance, and program development/evaluation needs to include infection control, TB, first aid, Fit Testing, AHA and BLS trainings for UCHC staff and NJDOC officers.
  • Responsible for collaborating with the UCHC's Infection Control Physician and the Infectious Disease Program to develop effective training programs in compliance with all regulations.
  • Responsible for collaborating with UCHC Executive Leadership to identify trainings related to mental health and UCHC administrative functions.
  • Develops curriculum for all trainings to include audio visual, and written materials. In consultation with UCHC leadership, effectively and appropriately initiates a process of consultation, needs assessment and systems analysis to identify goals and objectives that facilitate change, as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Assesses the training and curriculum development needs of UCHC staff and actively shares knowledge with program staff, as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation. g. Utilizes instruments appropriately for program evaluation of the trainings indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Keeps abreast of all new technological innovations and training tools, and apply those tool in training modules.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to, and is effective in, intervening with system issues that may impinge upon service delivery, as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Successfully engages in networking and linkage activities designed to facilitate operation of the service delivery system in relevant project areas, as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Works closely with supervisor to develop plans to meet identified goals and objectives, as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Remains current with best practice/state of the art models of mental health and infection disease prevention and health care services within correctional settings and actively incorporating this information with UCHC-NJDOC health related training curriculum.
  • Provides effective and efficient overall management and oversight of designated project areas.
  • Facilitates communication between trainees, the Department and the University of Correctional Health Care and the DOC on the implementation of practice models and systematic issues as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • Provides timely, advanced level written-assessments, work plans, project reports, training curriculum, and proposals relevant to delegated project activities, as observed by supervisor.
  • Produces a volume of work consistent with the amount of time allotted to the specific project, as observed by supervisor.
  • Regularly reports relevant program operational issues, as observed by supervisor and indicated by feedback.
  • Provides effective and adequate feedback on the status of delegated projects, as indicated by supervisory observation.
  • Ensures efficient and prudent utilization of resources for delegated project activities, as observed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic issues related to delivery of services, as observed by supervisor and feedback.
  • Makes effective use of own supervision to share problems, develops goals and objectives and identifies areas for growth and development, as observed by supervisor.
  • Supports goals, objectives and mission of NJ Department of Corrections, UBHC and UCHC.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus five (5) years of relevant experience

  • Or a Master's Degree in Education, Mental Health, Forensic Sciences, Social Sciences, Nursing

  • Or related discipline plus three (3) years of relevant (education, healthcare, science) experience.
  • Candidates must have at least two years of experience with technical assistance, curriculum development, and training medical/mental health professionals.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the educational requirements on a year for year basis.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid NJ Driver's License. Must possess own vehicle to travel between sites.
  • Licensed as Registered Nurse RN in the State of New Jersey verified by New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs and University approved verification service.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Commute to training sites throughout the state. Frequent, prolonged standing, sitting, walking, speaking and hearing. Ability to lift or exert up to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
