Job Summary
Applies scientific knowledge / therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups.
Essential Functions
  • Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required.
  • Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
  • Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
  • Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
  • Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy
  • 2 years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education
