Clariant's Catalyst division is seeking Chemistry, Engineering and other STEM interns and co-ops at our Louisville Kentucky location. We structure this engaging internship with the Mechanical Engineering team at Clariant to learn more about the production of specialty chemicals. In this position you will focus on most to all areas of chemical production, the equipment used and overall engineering to include: process improvement, product quality, ESHA and safety just to name a few. Our program aims to provide each of our participants with real industry hands on experience and an opportunity to work with some of the Chemical industries most talented individuals. We often have multiple internship and cop-op opportunities for the coming Fall/Spring and Summer terms so please specify your interest and availability when applying.

Responsibilities

Our Programs:



  • As an intern you will have the opportunity to work with us during your "off" school schedule.
  • The Co-op will be on-site throughout a full semester and can be aligned with your program/institution requirements.



What you will do:



  • Involved in the process of production of Catalysis
  • Troubleshooting existing process & equipment to drive up-time, yields, and quality
  • Process improvement through project implementation (could be mechanical or process chemistry related)
  • Soft Skill Development due to the cross functional team interactions (Production, QC, Maintenance, Sales, R&D, etc)
  • Communication Skills with upper management; conveying findings, ideas, and potential improvements to Production Managers and up

Requirements



  • You should be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of a co-op assignment pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree
  • Stem Program highly desired, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar around science or mathematics.
  • An interest in Chemical Engineering or manufacturing


  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Seeking strong critical thinking and strong listening abilities.


  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills is desired


  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills


  • Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or community service activities is desired
