Stony Brook University: Provost Office: College of Arts & Sciences: Physics and Astronomy Location Stony Brook University Open Date Sep 05, 2024 Deadline Nov 18, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The person holding this position will report to the Chair of the Physics and Astronomy Department. The faculty member will perform research on topics in Accelerator Physics. While the particular focus of the research will be up to the faculty member, the successful applicant will be expected to join and strengthen the Stony Brook accelerator physics group engaging in independently funded research characterized by creativity and vision. Current faculty members of the local Stony Brook accelerator physics group engage in a wide variety of research activities covering topics in conventional and advanced accelerator physics. The faculty member is expected to interact with other local members of the accelerator physics group at Stony Brook and at BNL, and with members of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and of the YITP with interests in accelerator physics, as well as with their peers at other educational institutes. During the academic year the faculty member may be asked to give seminars on the member's work and is expected to present their research at national and/or international conferences. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses at the Department of Physics and Astronomy and will be expected to encourage, and as appropriate participate in, the research and mentorship of graduate students and postdoctoral associates. The faculty member will participate in departmental, university and professional service.
