The Role

At SoFi, we're on a mission to help our members get their money right, and become a Top 10 Financial institution. Beyond that, we aim to become the "AWS of Banking", building the platforms that power the Financial Services industry and we're starting with core Banking.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Platform Product Manager to oversee our banking core systems and migration. You'll work closely with engineering to ensure our systems meet business, technical, operational and regulatory requirements and optimize our services for resiliency, flexibility and scalability.

The services you create are designed with multi-tenancy in mind, and will ultimately support multiple products across our Banking, Investment, Credit Card and other businesses. As a platform PM, you will champion consolidation, improve capabilities and drive internal adoption to help our teams move faster. You'll see around corners to anticipate the future needs of the Banking business and its customers, and build to meet us there.

As a key cross-functional player, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Business Unit Leads, Finance, Compliance, and other PMs to set a vision, define priorities, manage trade offs, execute an ambitious agenda, and be accountable to results reported at the executive level.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee product strategy and vision for our core banking platforms and translate into executable roadmap and results
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the technical team, business units, and external vendors and collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
  • Lead technical assessments and ensure that the new core system meets functional, performance, and security requirements.
  • Identify potential risks (e.g. regulatory risk) associated with the migration and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee system integration, data migration, and interface development to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including technical specifications, user guides, and change logs.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of technical product management experience, with a focus on banking technology and core systems
  • Proven experience managing large-scale system migrations or transformations in a banking environment.
  • Strong technical background with experience in core banking systems, data migration, system integration, and software development.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the banking industry.
  • A proactive, results-oriented approach to your work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp complex user scenarios, technical concepts, and business drivers to make well-informed decisions.
  • Keen attention to detail and proficiency in distilling complex issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with and manage cross-functional groups of stakeholders.

Nice to have(s):

  • Experience with specific core banking platforms (e.g., Finastra, Temenos, FIS) is a plus.
