Position Overview:

The Student Conduct Monitor aids in the management of community conduct to create and maintain a safe, orderly school environment that is optimized for student learning and growth. The Student Conduct Monitor reports to the Director of Culture & Climate and is responsible for patrolling the hallways during each class period, moving throughout the campus to ensure every student has a hall pass, teachers have a visible badge, and visitors are wearing avisitor's badge and accompanied by their host. Student Conduct Monitors may be stationed in specific areas based on the time of day, in addition to keeping the bathrooms locked during the first and last ten minutes of each class period, and checking each student's hall pass for validity (reason, scholar's name, date, and time.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Patrol hallways during each class period to ensure a safe and orderly school environment.
  • Monitor campus grounds to ensure compliance with school policies, including checking hall passes for validity (reason, scholar's name, date, and time).
  • Verify that teachers and staff wear visible identification badges.
  • Ensure visitors wear visitor badges and are accompanied by their designated host.
  • Station in specific areas of the campus as assigned based on the time of day.
  • Lock and unlock bathrooms during specified times (first and last ten minutes of each class period).
  • Report any disruptions or incidents to appropriate school personnel.
  • Assist in the management of student behavior as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation related to student conduct when necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to uphold school rules and policies.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma required, but degree preferred.
  • Experience working in urban schools required.
  • Prior teaching experience is highly desired.
  • Expertise in Restorative Practices.
  • Proven track record of utilizing Restorative Practices or other behavior management systems.
  • Excellent data and spreadsheet management skills.
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • High level of personal organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse constituencies (teachers, parents, students, administrators, etc.)
  • Proven ability to proactively lead by example and respond positively to feedback.
