Job Summary

General Job Summary:
  • Prospective employees in these roles will work with SOBEWFF Managers to assist with planning and coordination of all Festival-related duties. Prospective employees must be available in advance for meetings, orientations, and site inspections. Prospective employees must also be available for up to seven (7) continuous days the week of the Festival: February 17 - 24, 2025.
  • Pay is $14.00/hour. Maximum of 20 hours per week.
Desired Qualification:
  • Applicants must be current Florida International University students enrolled during both the 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters.
  • Previous SOBEWFF experience or industry experience preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and possess a high level of responsibility and organization
  • Must have the ability to maintain pleasant working relationships and work well in a high stress team environment
  • Must possess effective communication and strong customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word), Google Drive, Outlook and Zoom.
  • Should have a reliable method of transportation for meetings and site visits
  • Should have a laptop, email, smartphone, and reliable internet access to work remotely as needed.
  • Willing to do some light physical labor
  • Available for Tuesday staff meetings and Wednesday Committee Meetings preferred but not required.
  • Schedule must be flexible for the entire month of February and fully available on-site the week of the Festival, February 19 - 25, 2024.
  • Should be flexible to come in on Saturdays throughout January and February as Festival date nears.

Fundraising and Best of the Best Winery Product Assistant: Prospective employees in this role will work with SOBEWFF Auction Manager to assist with the planning and coordination of all on-site auctions and fundraising efforts at the Best of the Best and Tribute Dinner events in addition to multiple online auctions leading up to and throughout Festival weekend.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Auction Manager in the solicitation of items, management of incoming donations, tracking the location of donations and checking for accuracy.
  • Manage the online auction platform and assist in marketing efforts to encourage bidding
  • Assist with collecting, checking, and verifying product information from participating wineries.
  • Check product in at SGWS warehouse to ensure proper vintages and quantities are received as indicated by suppliers.
  • Assist on-site during the Festival weekend at the Best of the Best and Tribute Dinner Events as well as any other events where fundraising may occur.
  • Help manage distribution and setup of Best of the Best winery stations on-site during Festival week.
  • Assist in the close-out of auctions including communicating with donors and winning bidders, shipping, and tracking sales.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Willing to do occasional physical labor (heavy lifting)

Grand Tasting Venue Event Product Assistant: Prospective employees in this role will work with SOBEWFF Grand Tasting & Satellite Events Supplier Manager to assist with the planning and coordination of all supplier brands participating at Grand Tasting.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Satellite Event Product Assistant and the Grand Tasting & Satellite Events Supplier Manager. Will assist these individuals with data tracking, verifying product information, and processing requests through SGWS systems.
  • Works with fellow team members in checking products at SGWS warehouse, ensuring vintages and product type match those requested by Festival suppliers.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to soliciting, securing, and organizing supplier table participation at Grand Tasting and associated logistics.
  • Assist with managing spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel and Airtable.
  • Assist with ensuring all suppliers participating at Grand Tasting complete all requested event forms by the given deadlines.
  • On-site participation during festival week to handle any issues with supplier product at Grand Tasting
