Position Summary

NYU's Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director, Special Events in the Office of Special Events. The Assistant Director, Special Events will plan, develop, and manage all aspects of School-wide special events, programs, conferences, etc. The Assistant Director will ensure logistics are prepared, including security arrangements, facility selection and reservation, menu planning, catering orders, preparation of briefings, seating arrangements, updating of RSVP lists, transportation arrangements, organization of event materials, and audio/visual equipment. They will act as liaison between the Office of Special Events and other Stern Departments, Centers, and Program Areas. The selected candidate will conceptualize themes, research requests, assess feasibility, make recommendations, and execute events. They will ensure that events meet strategic goals of the School and will evaluate the success of events and share that knowledge with other members of the team.



Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience planning and implementing special events, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong customer service skills, the ability to solve problems in real time, and the ability to juggle numerous demands in the moment are required. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated project management skills, attention to detail, and experience with Google Suite are also required. The successful candidate will be highly creative with the ability to develop new ideas for clients that reinforce strategic priorities for the School. Experience with Event Management System (EMS) software is preferred.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,650.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
