Medica's Commercial Product Specialist III, Self-Insured, is responsible for collaborating with the Commercial Product team and internal departments on the development and deployment of new and existing Self-funded/Self-Insured (SI) and Administrative Services Only (ASO) products. This role will complete product analysis, implementation activities, research product/program challenges, and identify trends for improvements that are incorporated into a 3-5 year roadmap.

Key Accountabilities:



  • Review and support change and customization requests related to product design
  • Partner with Underwriting, Actuary, Legal, and Regulatory teams in the product management lifecycle
  • Develop training materials for brokers and sales teams for product portfolios
  • Update and maintain product grids for Self-funded/Self-Insured products
  • Engage and communicate effectively with functional and matrix partners as needed (Regulatory, Legal, Sales, Product, Marketing)
  • Perform activities that support product performance and growth goals


The Product Specialist reports into the ASO Director, and works with internal stakeholders within Product, Actuary, Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Sales and Marketing.

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 5+ years of related experience beyond the degree


Additional Experience, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of Self-funded/Self-Insured market, claims, and benefits
  • Understanding of the overall customer experience and the product performance lifecycle
  • Ability to support other product segments (e.g., Fully Insured large and small groups) as needed
  • Ability to perform tactical execution, identify areas of process improvement, and streamline processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Independent, self-driven professional

This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the Minnetonka, Madison, or Omaha office for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.

The full salary range for this position is $54,100 - $92,800. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
