The Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is recruiting a Health Educator to conduct and/or oversee the teaching of students enrolled in undergraduate courses in EMS. The selected candidate will effectively apply fundamental knowledge of the EMS system. This includes but is not limited to safety, medical, legal, and ethical issues to the provision of emergency care, and the well-being of the Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT). Duties & Responsibilities |
- Teach students using a variety of techniques including but not limited to didactic lecture, practical demonstration, monitoring of group activities as well as evaluations.
- Collect, review, and assess student work.
- Find, evaluate, and address deficiencies, which may occur in class.
- Evaluate student performance during the course on a continual basis.
- Ensure examination procedure compliance with state and national guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain EMS training center and training program certificates per the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and use new software.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- EMT Certification.
- Experience teaching EMT courses.
- D2L Experience.
- Current Paramedic certification.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
