Job Description

Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is the agency of Johnson County government that facilitates career and personal development for Johnson County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The agency regularly serves more than 500 people each day through a broad array of community-based programs and supports. We focus on individuals' abilities, provide choice driven supports, and advocate alongside people to live and work in our community. JCDS is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the Administrative Supports position at our central location, Mark D. Elmore Center. This position is the first point of contact for all persons entering the building and works closely with staff, the public, individuals served and their families. The Administrative Supports position requires multi-tasking, energy, compassion, and dedication to the individuals who utilize our services. This position will close on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Responsibilities Include:

    Answers phones, refers calls, gives standard information in response to phone, email, and in-person inquiries; acts as back-up to other administrative positions.
  • Greets visitors and maintains/administers appropriate safety procedures in secured environments.
  • Copies and collates documents; sorts and distributes mail and other time sensitive material(s).
  • Maintains files both public and confidential, distributes reports, and processes transactions into systems; types form letters, labels, mail merges and correspondence; proofreads information; schedules meetings, interviews, and other functions.
  • Coordinates with Warehouse Coordinator to order, inventory, receive, and shelve routine supplies; reviews invoices/packing slips to ensure shipment is correct, and follows up on discrepancies; tracks expenditures. Receives deliveries as needed.
  • Serves as an additional Workplace Safety Coordinator and Continuity of Operations representative for the agency. Coordinates JCDS safety; including residential drill audits, recording Elmore Center Drills, and serving on the JCDS safety team.
  • Coordinates identified fleet needs with Fleet Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with transportation provider to schedule new riders, updates billing, addresses, and bus list.
  • Assists with fundraising efforts.
  • Assists Day and Employment Director with Vocation Rehab trainings, sends and tracks release, sets up and schedules trainings.
  • Helps with sales from Emerging Artist and Papercrete Works and keeps track of sales.
  • Coordinates meeting room reservations as needed.
  • Administer the lobby kiosk.
  • Assists with event planning and travel coordination for staff and people served.
  • Monthly Board Support. Gathering and collating board reports from each department and disseminating to all participants. After the board meeting, types up the meeting minutes and submits them to the board secretary for approval.
  • Mandatory overtime to attend board meeting and act as recording secretary. Ten (10) nights a year and approximately four (4) hours of overtime each occurrence.


Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of administrative support are required.

Experience can substitute for education. Education can substitute for experience.
