Job Description

Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and groundbreaking equine lameness diagnostic equipment, we are a center for animal healthcare.

We are seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join the dedicated pharmacy team in our Veterinary Health Center. The pharmacy supports our small animal, food animal, and equine hospitals by providing onsite pharmacy services to clinicians and clients.

Standard responsibilities will vary based on clinic needs, but will include:

  • Read and interpret DVM prescriptions and process in computer system.
  • Prepare prescriptions and forward to pharmacist for approval.
  • Compound special dosage forms.
  • Prepare sterile dosage forms (IV solutions, chemotherapeutic drugs, TPNs, PPNs).
  • Answer telephone and assist individuals (internal and external to the Veterinary Health Center) with pharmacy requests.
  • Fill Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Process and audit charges for patients and departments.
  • Inspect pharmacy stock monthly for expiring drugs and supplies and remove them from stock.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Shift

Hours/shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications

One year or more prior pharmacy experience is highly desirable.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.00 - $21.50
Grade: PAT-005
