Job Summary
Under the Office of Population Health, this position works in partnership with the California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Prevention Program (CDPH/CTPP), Community and Statewide Interventions Section to independently perform the duties associated with the development and implementation of local and statewide comprehensive tobacco prevention projects. This position is responsible for providing statewide consultation, analysis of policies, projects, program and issues in support of the program overall goals and objectives, contract/grant administration and highly specialized technical assistance. The incumbent participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of tobacco prevention program policies, planning, procedures to monitor local health departments, community-based organizations. develops policy/program proposals and recommendations to guide and support tobacco prevention strategy. They will evaluate tobacco prevention health program efforts to limit the influence of the tobacco industry and reduce tobacco use in California. Additional responsibilities include providing consultation to local, state, and federal agencies and community organizations. #CA-SB
** Requires travel both in and out-of-state as required to provide technical assistance, training, and disseminate information.

- Bachelor's level degree in public health, health promotion, community health, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in public administration contracting and procurement processes.
- Strong project management skills necessary to advance initiatives (both long-term and immediate projects).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of other common public health or research specific computer application programs.
- Knowledge of common public health or research specific computer application programs.
- Strong policy analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of public administration contracting budgeting and procurement processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's level degree in public health, health promotion, community health, or related field. Specialization in public or community health education OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in public health program policy, design, planning, implementation, and evaluating complex health programs and projects.
- Experience planning, coordinating, disseminating information and providing technical assistance.
- Strong knowledge of California State Government and in tobacco prevention and/or cessation, including its infrastructure, goals, mission, rules, policies, guidelines, etc.
- Knowledge or experience in the development of comprehensive strategies and funding processes to provide tobacco prevention services at the community and statewide level.
- Strong knowledge of program planning, such as conducting needs assessments, developing measurable objectives, and designing appropriate quantitative or qualitative evaluation plans.

Department Overview The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center's Office of Population Health provides staff services support for the California Tobacco Prevention Program at the California Department of Public Health. To change tobacco-related social norms, the California Tobacco Prevention Program funds a statewide media campaign and state and community interventions which focus on policy, system, and environmental changes.
