East Carolina University, located in Greenville, North Carolina, is a doctoral II constituent of the University of North Carolina system. The College of Education is composed of the following major departments: Interdisciplinary Professions; Educational Leadership; Elementary and Middle Grades Education; Literacy Studies, English Education, and History Education; Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Technology Education; and Special Education, Foundations, and Research. It also houses the Office of Educator Preparation, the Office of Community Relations & Outreach, and the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, & Data Management.
Job Duties
The Scholarship and Donor Relations Coordinator within the Academic Success Center ( ASC) of the College of Education will serve a pivotal role in sustaining and growing student scholarship programs and donor engagement efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Engagement, Student Success, Scholarship, and Development, this position will be instrumental in coordinating the Education Community of Scholars ( ECOS) program, the NC Teaching Fellows Program, and the Living-Learning Community at East Carolina University. The Coordinator will oversee various tasks related to scholarship and donor relations, ensuring the effective management and growth of these programs.

Scholarship Program Coordination (35%):

  • Oversee ECU Teaching Fellows and Education Community of Scholars recruitment and notification processes.
  • Travel to high school award ceremonies to recognize scholarship and award recipients.
  • Oversee the overall administration of the NC Teaching Fellows Program at ECU, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of program events and activities.
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the ECU Teaching Fellows program to enhance its growth and sustainability.
  • Manage funding agreements, awards, and programmatic tracks for scholarship recipients.
  • Review budget reports, determine award allocations, and ensure compliance with fund agreements.
  • Optimize scholarship disbursement processes and address discrepancies in collaboration with University Advancement.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, complete required annual reporting for organizations, donors, university, and the state.


Donor Engagement and Relations (30%):

  • Enhance scholarship and donor data management systems.
  • Coordinate monthly donor communications between the Dean and donors via ThankViews, emails, letters, phone calls and other communications.
  • Foster stronger donor connections through coordinated events and communications.
  • Develop comprehensive donor profiles for scholarships and refine fund agreements.
  • Coordinate with University Advancement and Executive Director to review fund agreements and collaborate for updates to fund agreements related to donor relations and fund management.
  • Collaborate with the Registrar's office and Lead Advising Coordinator to ensure qualifications are accurate in AcademicWorks.
  • Create COE scholarship recipient profiles and thank you letters, as well as annual recipient donor/recipient packets.
  • Coordinate and accompany the Dean and/or Executive Director on donor visits, meetings, and presentations.
  • Track donor engagement for University Advancement in One or other CRM and prepare donor reports and presentations.
  • Coordinate the annual COE Scholarship Recipient and Donor Ceremony.
  • Attend monthly University Advancement meetings and report for COE, as needed.
  • Coordinate scholar presentations at various events and board meetings.
  • Oversee and facilitate the COE Professional Advisory Board, to include scheduling and facilitating meetings, meeting minutes, and monthly communications.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement, ECU Alumni, COE Faculty/Staff and current Professional Advisory Board members and donors to research and recruit members for the COE Professional Advisory Board.

Scholar Recruitment and Support (20%):

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract high-caliber candidates to the Teaching Fellows and Education Community of Scholars program.
  • Collaborate with the ECU Admissions Office, University Scholarships Office, and other relevant departments to streamline the application, selection, and award process for scholarship recipients.
  • Monitor and support student progress, providing guidance and resources to ensure their success and retention within the program.
  • Represent the program at various events and conferences to promote its mission and attract potential candidates and partners.
  • Track program effectiveness and document processes to improve scholar recruitment and retention.
  • Support summer orientation sessions, interactive sessions for parents, and oversee College of Education (COE) academic recognitions for current students.
  • Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities for scholars, including workshops, seminars, and internships.
  • Ensure that the program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful teaching careers.
  • Provide academic advising and support of COE scholars.
  • Developing and teaching COE Scholarship sections of COAD 1000.

Community Engagement and Outreach (10%):

  • Engage with community service organizations to forge partnerships and oversee outreach efforts.
  • Develop service opportunities for scholarship recipients and strengthen ties between the College and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and growth of the ECU Teaching Fellows program and the Education Community of Scholars.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to university leadership, state agencies, and other stakeholders on program outcomes and progress.
  • Utilize data and feedback to continuously improve program offerings and operations.
  • Engage with alumni and current Teaching Fellows to foster a strong community and network.

Other Duties as assigned (5%), including but not limited to:

  • Support the College's initiatives focused on student enrollment growth.
  • Assist Executive Director and colleagues in the Academic Success Center with the logistics of new recruitment programming initiatives.
  • Assist colleagues with social media and digital resources for the Academic Success Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree required; will accept a bachelor's degree in education, administration, or related field and 2 years of relevant experience in substitution.

Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated proficiency in data management systems and budgetary processes.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
