DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In the absence of the Senior Center Operator 1, the Alternate Senior Center Operator 1 will be responsible for planning and implementing various programs and activities within the Lee Park Active Adult Center. Some primary functions include maintaining an inventory of nutrition supplies and nutrition records for the center, in addition to monitoring the daily quality of bulk foods which includes checking temperatures and portion sizes. It is essential to ensure that health and sanitation guidelines are being consistently followed.
Diligent organizational skills are exercised to maintain a record of attendance and volunteer hours for the center, schedule transportation for the center, encourage active program participation in offered recreational and instructional activities, and process participant's requests for therapeutic diets. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time employment
- Work hours are 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with no lunch period.
- This is an alternate position and will be called when needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne and Wyoming County. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne and Wyoming County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Monroe, Schuylkill, or Sullivan counties will be considered. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
