Description

The PSC-II (EP-Lab) works under general supervision of the Administrative Manager and collaborates with patient service coordinators and the EP lab to coordinate the day-to-day activities of the administrative support staff.

S/he performs administrative and patient service duties on behalf of the Cardiac Arrythmia Practice leadership. S/he coordinates EP scheduling support for procedures and test, reviews and communicates with appropriate departments and troubleshoots operational issues in a time-sensitive manner.

Emphasis is placed on the ability to organize priorities, complete tasks, manage confidential information, and enhance the quality of service to patients and providers. S/he functions as a role model for other practice/program support staff by providing guidance and oversight of administrative processes essential to the practice/program.

The PSC-II (EP-Lab) has a work history that demonstrates a strong knowledge of medical office practices, hospital software systems and policies, and the ability to work effectively and courteously with diverse groups of patients, staff, and providers.

* Book procedures for EP patients, track and ensure completion of all pre-op testing.

* Book patient appointments necessary for testing.

* Communicate dates, locations, and pre-op requirements to patients via Patient Gateway, phone, and/or mail.

* Answer the phones and tend to any calls regarding procedure preparation.

* Ensure that patients, family members, and caregivers understand all information given to them regarding procedures, testing, and any other instructions.

* Notify clinical team members of any questions that may need addressed prior to a procedure.

* Provide great customer service to patients, families, and caregivers.

* Interact in a courteous manner with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff within and outside of MGH to coordinate the care for procedure patients.

* Work with the clinical team and EP lab management on new strategies/initiatives.

* Act as a resource to other administrators and assist with tasks involved with procedures.

* Respond to all tasks in a timely manner.

* Attend any meetings and trainings that may be required for tasks related to position.

* Comply with all internal and external compliance requirements.

* Perform other tasks necessary to help with the flow of patients throughout the procedure process.

Crosstrain on Payroll to complete weekly; cross-cover EP-Lab Front Desk and EP Waiting Area

Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of healthcare experience required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to stay focused, calm and professional while working effectively with diverse groups of patients, providers and staff in a complex, time-sensitive environment.
  • Functions as a resource to members of the administrative team and the Cardiac Arrythmia practice.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Epic, Microsoft Office suite, and other hospital software.
  • Possesses and encourages a high level of teamwork, performance, accountability, and a strongly positive and helpful nature.
  • Understands and is compliant in hospital, State and Federal regulatory requirements, including hospital policy and procedures (where applicable to the performance of the job), Joint Commission, and HIPAA.
  • Performs all duties of Patient Services Coordinator I and II.
