https://partnerships.uams.edu/ Summary of Job Duties:The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Academy Program Manager plays a critical role in diversifying the allied and other healthcare professions in the state of Arkansas by providing structured academic enrichment, training, resources, and support services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in health careers. This position requires strong student services and program management skills as well as a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and the specific workforce needs in the state of Arkansas. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in counseling, public health, social work or related fields.
  • Four (4) years or more counseling or advising experience working with students enrolled in health or educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher preferred.

Special knowledge, abilities and skills: Community involvement and/or experience within the Arkansas Delta Region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Manager will be the student services primary point of contact for prospective and enrolled participants of the HCOP Academy project in partnership with university divisions, community agencies and school districts. HCOP Academy Student services are designed to assist individuals from disadvantaged background to successfully complete their education at a health professions school. Program services include, but are not limited to, recruitment and retention activities, academic preparation, health education and research training, academic and career counseling, mentoring, and experiential learning activities. The program manager role manages the day-to-day program logistics to include, case management, tracking student placement and progress, delivering workshops and trainings, conducting site visits, and reporting evidence for program assessment and evaluation of the project including budgeting, staffing, and reporting ensuring compliance with HRSA grant requirements.

The HCOP Academy is a HRSA grant funded, multi-partnership, multi-site project designed to address the critical need to diversify the healthcare workforce by providing exposure to careers in the allied health and medical profession. The Academy programs include the HCOP National Ambassador Program, HCOP Summer Program, HCOP Pre-Matriculation Program and supports an existing UAMS Post-Baccalaureate Program. The Academy Programs offer academic, clinical and experiential training opportunities to build an educational pipeline into allied health and medical programs. The HCOP Academy will serve HS junior & seniors, enrolled health degree program students across a 20-county rural service area in the Arkansas Delta region. The HCOP Academy Office will be located in Helena, Pine Bluff, or Magnolia and will require extensive travel within the project service area.

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience.
