Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Injection One Step Machine Operator Job SummaryInjection Machine Operator employees in the One Step area are responsible for the packaging and movement of finished product, computer based data entry, ticket generation and proper product staging. Also responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in the area of assigned responsibility. This requires the ability to understand and follow basic good manufacturing practices and guidelines, the ability to recognize, correct, and prevent quality problems, and the ability to troubleshoot all aspects of the Injection Molding process. Reporting RelationshipShift Supervisor and Injection Operations Manager Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions1. Responsible for insuring that all finished product from machines is packaged for shipment according to the customer's specifications and internal requirements including internal good manufacturing practices / guidelines. This includes knowledge and understanding of: a. Proper fill height - no under filling or overfilling of boxes b. Proper lidding / shipping /storage c. Proper labeling of finished product, including correct part numbers, weights and times d. Proper methods for preparing empty boxes, establishing tare weights, staging empty boxes and lids. e. Proper packaging and preparation of product for export shipments. 2. Demonstrated ability to start machinery from a "cold" start state. To demonstrate this ability, employees must be able to understand and explain the function / operation of the injection machine and process parameters on all current plant injection molding equipment. 3. Have the ability to understand and achieve established production standards by being able to set machine conditions to obtain optimum cycle without sacrificing quality. 4. Demonstrate organizational ability to complete daily clean-up assignments, and adequately maintain good housekeeping throughout the entire area of responsibility. 5. When a quality problem is detected, it is the responsibility of the Machine Operator to take corrective action and notify Lead, Quality and Shift Technician. 6. Demonstrate an understanding of dryer components and processes. 7. Demonstrate an understanding of chiller components and processes. 8. Demonstrate an understanding of mold components and processes. 9. Demonstrate an understanding of preform dimension locations and measurements. 10. Responsible for assisting with all mold changes and set-ups. Minor maintenance activities are required. 11. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor "No Injuries Safety Contract" and as trained. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Lead/Supervisors. Properly uses all required personal protective equipment. 12. Directly responsible for the proper support to Blowmold Machine Operators and all other team members to ensure a positive team environment. 13. Performs other related duties as directed by the Lead/Supervisor. Authorization* Those employees with authorized training have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety or unacceptable quality. * Recommend Staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies * Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment Job Specifications and Requirements1. Education and Experience: a. High school diploma or equivalent preferred b. Previous Manufacturing work experience is preferred Injection Mold (IMM) Machine Operator One Step Job Description - Page 2. 2. Physical Requirements: This is a heavy physical demand job a. Lift / push / pull up to 1000 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds). b. Maximum frequent lifting weight of 75 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. c. Rare frequency of lifting up to 100 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. d. Maximum frequent carrying weight of 75 pounds for 10 feet. e. Employees are required to stand / walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor. f. Employees must be able to work 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays. g. Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations. 3. Required Safety Equipment: a. Employees are required to continuously wear head, hearing and eye protection, as well as protective clothing including steel toe shoes. 4. Environmental Factors: a. Continuous noise of 85dB b. Frequent exposure to chemicals c. Occasional exposure to dust / fumes / gas 5. Other Requirements: a. Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values. This includes entering information into an on-line database accurately. b. Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgment calls based on the situation at hand. c. Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment. 6. Training Requirements: a. Lock Out / Tag Out b. Bloodborne Pathogen c. Hearing Conservation / PPE d. Right to Know / Hazardous Communication e. Emergency Evacuation f. Ladder Safety / Fall Protection g. PIT / Forklift Safety h. Quality Refresher i. Product Safety / Resin Handling j.
