Summary statement on overall purpose and function of the position.

Under the guidance and development of the Vice President, Tax, and in accordance with corporate directives, the Senior Director, Tax - Accounting and Compliance, will be responsible for overseeing, designing, implementing, and improving the global ASC 740 and domestic income and indirect compliance processes. Overall tax responsibilities include, but are not limited to tax accounting, tax filings, and tax research to support U.S. GAAP reporting, local statutory reporting, and multiple tax compliance processes. This position will work closely with members of Finance to assist with implementing U.S. GAAP accounting changes, SEC reporting, accounting for acquisitions and other corporate reorganization activities, tax rate modeling, and ensuring SOX compliance.

What will your duties and responsibilities be?
The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.

Income Tax Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns and quarterly estimated payments

  • Monitor and implement relevant tax law changes

  • Oversee tax examination processes for federal and state jurisdictions

Indirect Tax Responsibilities:

  • Oversee use tax, property tax, and excise tax compliance and accounting

  • Oversee tax examination processes for sales/use, franchise, and property tax

  • Assist with the review, analysis, research and resolutions of tax issues involving mobile property reporting and special sales/use tax issues involving medical device products

  • Review and manage SFAS 5 processes, including updating tax positions, documenting new tax positions and maintaining compliance with US GAAP

  • Assist as needed with corporate registration issue resolution

  • Develop and manage KPI reporting of indirect tax activity

Tax Accounting and Other Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage consolidated and subsidiary quarterly and annual income tax provisions and deferred tax calculations, including related footnote disclosures for 10-Q's and 10-K's

  • Ensure the tax department is compliant with SOX 404 controls, including monitoring and continued design of an effective control environment

  • Lead tax accounting aspects of current and future US GAAP accounting changes

  • Oversee, prepare or review purchase accounting activities, as needed

  • Assist as needed on acquisition due diligence and integration activities, as well as business support initiatives

  • Lead or assist with other special projects and process improvements to identify and implement best practices

  • Develop tax technical foundation with team members

  • Assist with management reporting and modeling of the ETR and cash taxes

What skills and experience will you need?
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • CPA

  • 17+ years of experience with large public accounting & multinational corporate tax department, including heavy experience in ASC 740 reporting and managing a domestic compliance process

  • Experience with Onesource Tax Provision (OTP), Onesource Income Tax (OIT)

  • Strong leadership, people development, project management, organizational, analytical/research and communication skills

  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills

What qualifications are preferred?
The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.

Education/Certifications:

  • Master's Degree preferred

Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • Experience with Oracle and FCCS

  • Experience with Vertex

  • Experience with Alteryx or other BI tools
