Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. As the regions only academic
OBGYN department, the primary functions of the department are to teach obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professional, provide evidence-based and comprehensive clinical service to the region, and conduct clinical research featuring our rural mission. |
Job Duties |
This is an "Internal Posting" for a
Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director, open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine.
This will be a part-time (.20 FTE/20 %) reassignment of time.
The primary focus of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director is to lead and oversee the daily operations of the
MFM Division. This role will work closely with the Chair of
OBGYN
ECU Health Academic. This appointment will be allotted 8 hours per week of administrative time. The job duties are noted below:
* Supervise the faculty and advanced practice providers that work in the
MFM Division.
* Work with the Ultrasound Manager and Clinical Academic Department Administrator for leadership of the ultrasound (US) techs.
* Work in collaboration with the Department Outpatient Medical Director to ensure that the ambulatory access standards are met.
* Attend meetings that primarily focus on and around high-risk pregnancies and ultrasounds in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings.
* Work with the faculty, staff, and Ultrasound Manager to obtain Association for Medical Ultrasound certification for the
ECU-Health Academic practice.
* Manage and track the expenses of the Division in collaboration with the
CADA.
* Work with the
MFM administrative assistant to have a schedule of coverage for clinic, antepartum, on-call, virtual consults, and reading OB ultrasounds.
* Develop strategies to increase access to high-risk care to our catchment service area.

Minimum Education/Experience |
Current faculty member with Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Brody School of Medicine.
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for
ECFMG Certification.
Board Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
NC Medical license. |
