SUMMARY:

The Cardiovascular Technologists diagnoses cardiovascular problems use medical imaging methods like cardiovascular radiography to diagnose heart conditions, vascular problems, or ailments that involves the heart, arteries, valves, blood vessels or electrical system of the heart. Position will assist with pacemaker, loop recorder, implantable cardioverter- defibrillator (ICD) implants, and electrophysiology procedures, studies, and ablations.

  • Monitor patients' blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiogram (EKG), and oxygen saturation during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.

  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of cardiovascular and peripheral systems during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of common cardiovascular and peripheral diseases as well as abnormalities. Exhibit understanding of common medications used in the cardiovascular lab.

  • Understanding of diagnoses of cardiovascular problems, assist with medical imaging radiography to diagnose heart conditions, vascular problems

  • Set up, monitor, annotate, and finalize images of cardiovascular and/or peripheral procedures. Prepare and position patients for both cardiovascular and peripheral procedures.

  • Obtain and record patient identification, medical history and test results. Explain testing procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.

  • Set up and operate electrophysiology specialty equipment including but not limited to 3D mapping systems, stimulation systems, intra cardiac echocardiography and EP monitoring and recording system.

  • Duties for this position include but are not limited to hemodynamic monitoring and recording of patients during EP. Intra and post procedure patient assessment and patient care within EP scope of practice, patient teaching, circulating and scrubbing roles for invasive procedures performed in the EP department. Performs and assists the electrophysiologists with the complex electrophysiology studies.

  • Performs at an expert clinical level and assists the physician in the performance of adult electrophysiology procedures; including both diagnostic and interventional. Demonstrates expertise in all cardiovascular laboratory technical skills, image acquisition, transferring and archiving of images, troubleshooting skills and expert knowledge of catheters and specialty equipment used during EP procedures. Assists our Data Coordinator with accurate data collection, documentation and data entry for national registries including but not limited to ACC/NCDR ICD registries.

  • Prepare reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician. Adjust equipment and controls according to physicians' orders or established protocol.

  • Check, test, and maintain cardiology equipment, making minor repairs when necessary, to ensure proper operation. Assist physicians in diagnostic and interventional procedures (PCI, Rotoblator, IVUS, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and/or Cardiovascular Technology and/or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certified.
  • One (1) or more year experience in cardiovascular intervention, or imagining services.
  • Experience in a cardiac catheterization or angiography laboratory preferred.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within two (2) years of hire date.

  • Knowledge of electrocardiography, coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology.
    Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation.

  • Good written and oral communication skills

Registered Radiologic Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist (RT-CI), Radiologic Cardiovascular Technologist (RT-CV), Radiologic Technologist (RRT), or Surgical Technician Certified.
