The Department of English, Theatre, and World Languages of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke seeks applications for a full-time Lecturer/Technical Director and Lighting Designer to begin January 2025.
The position will build sets for at least three program productions per academic year. The position will also design and execute at least three lighting designs for the academic year. Other duties include managing the shop, implementing renovations for and managing operations of a smaller black box theatre space, and providing technical support for student productions and management of student technical crews for main stage productions. Teaching responsibilities include Stagecraft, Theatre Practicum Introduction, Introduction to Theatre, Lighting Design, and other design and technology courses in the successful applicant's areas of expertise.
Normal teaching load is twelve hours each semester, with releases for lighting design and shop management, and with opportunities to do sound design. Opportunities also exist for teaching Introduction to Acting, Script Analysis, and Play Direction, if desired and qualified.
As the Theatre Program is comprehensive and collaborative, directing mainstage productions opportunities are available (but not required) for qualified and interested applicants.
