Summary: The Alternate Program Manager (APM) will provide support to the Army's premier sustainment think tank and training institution is the Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE). The SCoE headquarters is the United States (US) Army Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), located at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia (formerly known as Fort Lee). The SCoE provides education and training of United States (U.S.) Army, foreign military, other services, and civilian personnel for military occupational specialties and professional development. The Alternate Program Manager supports the Program Manager in overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the successful execution of assigned programs. The role involves stepping in during the absence of the Program Manager and assisting with the daily management of program goals, timelines, and resources. The Alternate Program Manager works closely with project teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure that the program objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the Program Manager in defining and tracking program objectives, scope, milestones, and success criteria
- Shall notify the COR and the KO of any real or potential deficiencies in the personnel area as they occur
- Shall provide the necessary level of additional management and administrative oversight to achieve the quantitative, and qualitative requirements under each contract/task order
- Act as the Program Manager's deputy, stepping in to manage and lead the program when the Program Manager is unavailable
- Help coordinate cross-functional teams to align with program goals and ensure on-time delivery of project milestones
- Support the development and maintenance of program plans, including project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Monitor project performance, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies
- Communicate program updates to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment
- Assist with the preparation of status reports, presentations, and program reviews
- Help manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met and issues are promptly addressed
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be proficient with MS office computer programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SharePoint, and ensure ability to access all required training tools and databases
- Must be able to speak, write, and comprehend the English language
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in program/project management or a similar role
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects and deliver results
- Ability to successfully pass an employment background check
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid T3 investigation with Secret or Interim Secret eligibility at the start of this contract
- Not required to have a SECRET security clearance; however, they do need a favorably adjudicated tier 1 investigation in order to be issued a Common Access Card (CAC)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any field is desired
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification is a plus
