This is a 1yr limited term position appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The
Department of Horticulture is seeking applicants for a
Research Assistant. The successful candidate will be expected to assist faculty, staff, and graduate students with research needs.

Essential Functions |
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Experimental setup; irrigation and fertigation system design, installation, and repair.
- Basic equipment maintenance; supervision of undergraduate student workers.
- Greenhouse transplant production and garden maintenance.
- The candidate will be expected to work in greenhouses, vertical farms, and outdoor experimental plots.

Education and Experience:
Level I: Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or a closely related field; no experience required.
Level II: Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Level III: Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or a closely related field and 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
Basic construction and maintenance skills and ability to safely operate power tools and tractors. |
Minimum Technology Skills |
General experience in word processing and spreadsheet software. |
