St. Joseph Medical Group (Kansas City Physician Care) is now hiring a full time, day shift Patient Service/Patient Referral Representative for our team! The Patient Service/Patient Referral Representative (PSR) duties include, but are not limited to:

• manages and processes patient referral documents and ensures that the process runs smoothly and efficiently
• ensures timely referrals and forwarding referral forms and medical records to appropriate facilities and departments
• collaborates with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate the referral process and provide all necessary information
• handles tasks such as sending referral forms via fax, transmitting office visit notes, and managing any other documents related to the referral process
• verifies insurance coverage, preauthorize tests, and accurately input and retrieve data using a computer to share essential patient information
• Prioritizes and tracks referrals based on level of emergency and diagnosis
• effectively communicate with the population they serve, as well as with staff and providers, utilizing age-specific techniques
• maintain a high level of proficiency in medical terminology
• consistently project a positive and helpful attitude in their interactions with others
• Monday - Friday, 8:00a - 4:30p

The Patient Referral Representative should also possess a strong background in Medical Assisting and/or Nursing, with extensive knowledge of referral and preauthorization processes.

Education and Work Experience

• previous experience in a medical setting, preferred
• knowledge of medical terminology, preferred
• Customer Service experience, preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent
