Job Summary:

This position will be located on the UW-Platteville campus as part of the UW-Madison Physician Assistant Program Distant Campus. The Platteville distant campus is the most recent expansion of the UW Madison PA program. The PA program is housed within a newly renovated Ullrich Hall, which includes dedicated classrooms for the current 12 didactic students, clinical teaching suites and laboratory space. The didactic students spend all their time at the Platteville campus, starting in May through the following June. In addition to this teaching position, there is a full-time staff position and a part-time faculty member at the Platteville campus.

This position is a 0.6-1.0 FTE (12-month appointment) non-tenure track academic staff faculty position in the Physician Assistant Program (UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), Academic Affairs). Upon joining the PA program, a minimum of 0.2 FTE clinical practice will be required. This position will be hired in the department that best matches the candidate's qualifications and interests.

This position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong leadership and teaching skills, a collaborative style to complement a team environment, and active clinical practice.

Duties will include providing classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course. This faculty will provide student mentoring for a subset of PA students, which includes regular meetings, grading and advising for the capstone process. Duties also include coordination of clinical rotations for students at the Platteville campus and assisting with site visits, recruitment of new preceptors and coordination of other duties with UW Madison PA faculty. Required travel to the Madison campus at intervals throughout the academic school year.


Responsibilities:

Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position. This Teaching Faculty position is a part of the UW Madison Master of Physician Assistant Studies department. A clinical department, outside of the PA program may be assigned if the candidate has affiliation with a UW Health clinical practice.
